Brooke Grasberger is a historian whose research focuses on the intersections of environment and faith, particularly at and around the sea. Her dissertation project examines the faith of seafarers aboard Dutch, British, and American ships in the whaling, merchant, and naval sectors throughout the nineteenth century.
She received her Ph.D. in History from Brown University in 2023, as well as an M.A. in Religious Studies in 2022. Before coming to Boston College, she also taught the environmental and cultural history of the oceans at the University of Connecticut. At Boston College, she is teaching Atlantic Worlds in the fall and two US History electives in the spring.
