About

The Latin American Studies Program challenges students to cross disciplinary borders while exploring this culturally dynamic, vibrant, and critically important region of the world. Faculty from many academic areas collaborate in the endeavor: African and African Diaspora Studies, Communication, Economics, Education, Film Studies, Fine Arts, History, Law, Political Science, Romance Languages and Literatures, Sociology, Social Work, and Theology. Students in the minor also come from various backgrounds. Some encounter Latin America for the first time, others renew or deepen their interest, and some explore familial connections with the region.

In addition to offering the minor, the Latin American Studies Program encourages individual faculty and students to work on research projects and theses related to Latin America, sponsors academic and cultural events on campus, and collaborates with the Office of Global Education in developing study-abroad programs in Latin America. It also shares information on events and course offerings with other colleges and universities in the Boston area that offer Latin American studies.

Latin American Studies is a program open to all undergraduate students enrolled in the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences, the Carroll School of Management, and the Lynch School of Education.
