Our highly ranked Master of Science in Accounting and Master of Science in Finance programs will prepare you for ever-shifting business landscapes. By enrolling in our specialized master’s programs you will gain mastery of fundamental industry principles, deepen your analytical skills, and enrich your career opportunities post-degree.
Boston College undergraduates currently in the second semester of their junior year or at any point in their senior year are eligible to apply to the Master of Science in Accounting or the Master of Science in Finance programs as fifth-year applicants. Once enrolled, students can complete their MSA or MSF degree in as little as nine months from the program start date.
Program Benefits for BC Undergraduates
As a Boston College graduate with a major or minor in Finance, you will:
- Potentially waive 2 courses (Corporate Finance and Investments), allowing you to complete your master’s degree in 9 months and save the equivalent cost of 2 courses (BC undergraduates who receive at least a B+ in Corporate Finance and Investments are eligible to waive these courses)
- Have the option to pursue the STEM-designated quantitative finance track—a highly quantitative track that emphasizes financial analytical skills
- Deepen your understanding of financial markets through a variety of exciting courses covering topics such as applied portfolio management, renewable energy finance, mergers and acquisitions, data analytics in finance, and many more.
- Continue to have access to Handshake, while gaining tailored graduate career resources like one-on-one advising
As a Boston College graduate with a non-Finance degree, you will:
- Be guaranteed 1 course (3 credits) in merit-based funding
- Have the option to pursue the STEM-designated quantitative finance track—a highly quantitative track that emphasizes financial analytical skills
- Gain hands on-skills through exciting courses like Data Analytics and Mergers and Acquisitions
- Continue to have access to Handshake, while gaining tailored graduate career resources like one-on-one advising
As a Boston College graduate, you will:
- Be guaranteed 1 course (3 credits) in merit-based funding
- Obtain 150 credit hours for the CPA
- Continue to have access to Handshake, while gaining tailored graduate career resources like one-on-one advising
Application Deadlines
- Round 1: December 5, 2023 (Receive an admissions decision by February 8, 2024)
- Round 2: May 14, 2024 (Receive an admissions decision by June 13, 2024)
Application Checklist
If you are a BC undergraduate applicant, you are eligible to waive the following application requirements:
- Letter of recommendation
- GMAT or GRE test score
- $100 application fee
Complete the online Fifth-Year application:
- Upload a 500-word essay indicating your present reasons for seeking the master’s degree, detailing your short-term and long-term professional career goals, and explaining how you think the BC MSA or MSF program will help you achieve these goals.
- Upload a copy of your current resume.
- Request an official transcript from Lyons Hall; please make sure to request your transcript only after your final junior year grades have been posted. Given current onsite work restrictions, it is preferred that you request an electronic copy of your transcript to be forwarded to the Carroll School of Management Graduate Admissions Office. Your fifth-year application will not be evaluated until the Graduate Admissions Office office has received your transcript.
