Akua Sarr, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Academic Affairs, explains that academic advising should be more than just meeting with a faculty member to select classes. At Boston College, we take a different approach to ensure that our students have an opportunity to develop relationships with faculty mentors.

Support for Your Academic Journey

You'll meet with dedicated, experienced, and caring advisors to help plot out your academic journey at Boston College.

Pre-Major Advisor

In your first year, you'll be paired with a pre-major advisor based on your interests. Your advisor will help you think strategically about your long-term academic plans and encourage you to explore the many options at Boston College—from study abroad to research grants, internships, and more.

Major Advisor

Once you declare a major in your sophomore year, you'll receive a major advisor. This advisor will serve as your primary resource throughout your time at Boston College, helping you meet graduation requirements and guiding you through selecting classes in your major and in our Core Curriculum.
Navigate Your Academic Experience

Navigate, Boston College’s Student Success Platform, is available across campus with services that include early alert and progress reporting, academic reporting for student-athletes, and scheduling appointments and tutoring for select offices.
