Thank you for your interest in the waiting list at Boston College. Due to the extraordinary competition this year, we were unable to admit many students with strong credentials who would have enriched the quality of our campus. While we recognize that the waiting list may further extend the uncertainty surrounding the college admission process, we wanted to offer you the opportunity for possible further consideration.
Please note that we will not be able to determine if any students will be admitted from the waiting list until after May 1, 2020. Therefore, for the time being, you should secure a place at an institution to which you have been admitted.
First, be sure to accept your spot on the waiting list by May 1, 2020. Please note that candidates are not rank ordered on the waiting list nor is it maintained on a first-come, first-served basis. Rather, if space becomes available in the class, we will consider those candidates who accepted a place on the waiting list.
If Boston College remains your top choice after you have received your other college decisions, you are also welcome to submit an Expression of Interest Letter via your AGORA Portal. Once logged on to the Portal, click on "Applicant Status" under Account and Personal Info. Next, click on the "Upload Document" button and upload your statement. Please select 2020 for "Document Year" and Expression of Interest for "Document Name". Upon submission, your Expression of Interest Letter will appear under Received Documents.
We do not encourage nor consider any additional letters of recommendation. On April 24, students who accepted a place on the waiting list received an emailed survey to assess their level of interest in attending Boston College. We kindly ask that you complete that survey by Friday, May 1.
Unfortunately, it's difficult to estimate, as movement can vary from year to year. In recent years, we have enrolled between 50 and 300 students from an active waiting list of about 2,500. It is important to note that it is possible that no waitlist movement will be made if the class is full as a result of our initial admission offers.
As no waitlist activity will take place prior to May 1, we strongly encourage you to secure enrollment at an institution to which you have been admitted.
