Prof. Ranger (PI) and Prof. Hira (Co-PI) were awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to develop, implement, and study a new approach to artificial intelligence education grounded in Human-Centered Algorithm Design (HCAD), which integrates technical, ethical, and social considerations into the process of designing algorithmic systems. This project will support the development of new teaching strategies that will assist engineering students’ engagement with the ethical, social, and human dimensions of AI.
