Welles Crowther Leadership Fellows is a semester-long program for 19 upper class students to reflect on the life and legacy of Welles Crowther and to consider Welles’ example in the context of their own BC experiences of leadership and formation.
Program Details
Mission
This program invites students to examine the themes of leadership exemplified by the life and legacy of Welles Crowther, and to consider where they have seen these themes through their own leadership and service experiences at BC. Students will reflect on these themes as they consider how they want to grow and develop as leaders, as Welles did, beyond their time at Boston College.
Format
The program begins with a day-long retreat with Alison Crowther, considering the ideas of vocation and purpose. The students meet three more times in September and October to discuss themes of leadership. Finally, in small groups, the fellows will develop and execute leadership action projects for the BC community or the community at-large.
Participants
Rising juniors and seniors, nominated by faculty/staff or peers, are eligible to apply. Students should be current leaders or aspiring leaders, including students who would enjoy exploring their leadership development in relation to Welles’ life and legacy
