Dear BC Law alumni,

Thank you for giving me the honor and privilege to serve as your Boston College Law School Alumni Board president. For those of you who do not know me, my name is Phil Privitera, and I am a second-generation BC Law graduate (Class of 1995) and an active alumnus. I come to you as a two-term past president of the Middlesex County Bar Association (MA), a six-year member of the Joint Bar Committee that reviews applications for Judicial Nominations, and an elected House of Delegate Member for the Massachusetts Bar Association.

I cherish serving on the BC Law Alumni Board and Reunion Committees and participating in outreach and engagement events with other alumni. I love giving back to Boston College Law School, and I hope there is no end in sight.

Along with my family, I have sponsored everything from a Privitera Family Scholarship, to a Graduation Day Prize, to the newly established Privitera Health and Wellness Fund, and most notably a larger-than-life Statue of Saint Thomas More to adorn the entrance of our beautiful Law Library. All of these have been dedicated to the memory of my mother, Jennie, who left me all too early in life. But, none of these accomplishments would be possible without the trust and support of my father, Francis D. Privitera, JD’56.

Outreach and engagement have been the theme of my term as Alumni Board president. As our alumni community expands with each graduating class, I want to ensure that the Alumni Association is strengthened through special events, programs, and communications that will help us stay connected and informed in the full tradition of BC Law.

Each year, the Alumni Association sponsors events across the country to help more than 14,300 alumni maintain a lifelong connection to BC Law and to each other. This spring we have held many events, including receptions with Dean Lienau in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and San Francisco, lunches at local firms in Boston, and events that bring together alumni and current students.

Most recently, the Alumni Board hosted its first annual West Palm Beach sunset reception poolside on the rooftop of the Ben Hotel. Alumni and guests, including three federal judges, traveled from as far away as Fort Lauderdale and Miami to share camaraderie and engage with fellow alums. This coming June, we will hold an outreach event in Philadelphia hosted by Ingrid Hillinger. To find out about this and other upcoming events near you this summer, visit bc.edu/lawalumni.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve Boston College Law School and this community that I love so much. It is a dream come true and the experience of a lifetime.

Sincerely,
Philip J. Privitera
