The Core Team is a dedicated group of undergraduate students, spanning sophomores to seniors, committed to cultivating a welcoming and inclusive campus environment. They achieve this by leading an introductory Cura workshop for all incoming freshmen, designed to foster self-reflection on identity and build foundational community. Throughout the academic year, the Core Team also facilitates monthly opt-in events within freshman residence halls, providing ongoing opportunities for connection and belonging among first-year students.
Learning Goals and Outcomes:
Upon completion of their training, Core facilitators will be able to:
- explain key identity markers and terminology to first-year students, empowering them to engage in meaningful self-reflection on their own identities.
- intentionally plan community-based events that encourage freshmen to reflect on their identities and engage in dialogue about cultivating a community of care and belonging.
