Eligibility

The McGillycuddy-Logue Travel Grant is available to BC undergraduate students who plan to study on BC summer or semester and year programs abroad, and are also recipients of BC institutional financial aid at the time of application, as well as for the period they are abroad (students from the Woods College of Advancing Studies are not eligible).  As of 2023, eligibility is extended to students applying to semester and academic year approved external programs.

The McGillycuddy-Logue Grant is awarded based on assessed student need and estimated program cost. In order to apply, students must have begun the application process at OGE for the program they are planning to attend. Note that summer and semester/year programs have different application requirements and procedures. Summer applicants need to have submitted a complete program application online. Students who have accepted a McGillycuddy-Logue Travel Grant in the past are not eligible to apply. The grant can only be awarded once; grants are non-transferrable and cannot be deferred.

Upon return from abroad recipients of the McGillycuddy-Logue Travel Grant will be asked to submit a thank you letter to the benefactors, including a photo that best describes their learning experience abroad. As part of the application and re-entry process, grant recipients will also be asked to reflect on and be involved in sharing their experience with prospective students. OGE reserves the right to feature McGillycuddy-Logue grant recipients on the OGE website and to share information with donors.

How to Apply

Access the online application.

  • Students will be required to complete an OGE application before proceeding to submit the McGillycuddy-Logue grant application.
  • A complete application will consist of a completed online application form, including two short essay questions.
  • Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed.
  • As part of the review process, our office will automatically generate a financial need report for each student who submits an application.
  • By submitting a grant application, you agree to allow this information to be added to your application materials.
  • Students do not need to meet with a scholarship advisor at OGE in order to submit an application.

Results

Students will be informed of the outcome via email approximately 3-6 weeks after the deadline. Those awarded grants will be required to accept their awards online. Grants are posted to students’ BC accounts and awards can be verified on Agora. Please note that awards are posted in December (Spring), June (Summer) and July-August (Fall and Academic Year). Summer program participants attending programs that start in May will likely receive a bill prior to awards being posted, in which case they can simply deduct the award amount referenced in their award letter from the total payment due to Boston College.

I realized how crucial it is to recognize the diversity of our world and think not only as members of one nation, but as members of a larger, international community.
