To apply for admission, you must: 

Required Materials
  • Completed and signed application, submitted through LSAC 
  • Nonrefundable application fee of $75.00
  • Personal statement that demonstrates your interest in and capacity for the study of law—up to three pages, double-spaced with a minimum of one-inch margins and 10-point font 
  • Two letters of recommendation submitted through the LSAC Letter of Recommendation Service 
  • Official transcripts from all higher education institutions attended, submitted through the CAS

International Applicants

In addition to completing the application, international students who graduated from a foreign university where English was not the primary language must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language.

Foreign Transcripts

Submit foreign transcripts through the LSAC's CAS Authentication and Evaluation service

Exceptions: You may submit foreign work completed with a study abroad, consortium, or exchange program sponsored by an American or Canadian higher education institution through the standard CAS.

Bar Requirements

In addition to a bar examination, there are character, fitness, and other qualifications for admission to the bar in every U.S. jurisdiction. Applicants are encouraged to determine the requirements for any jurisdiction in which they intend to seek admission by contacting the jurisdiction. Addresses for all relevant agencies are available through the National Conference of Bar Examiners.
