Kristin Madison, Professor of Law and Health Sciences at Northeastern University, is a visiting professor at BC Law in Fall 2023. After receiving an undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley in economics, she worked for two years in health care consulting, and then received her JD from Yale Law School and a PhD in economics from Stanford University. She was a member of the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania Law School from 2001 to 2011, when she joined Northeastern University with a joint appointment in the School of Law and the Bouve College of Health Sciences. She teaches in the areas of contracts, health law, health policy, and health economics.
Madison has written extensively on health care quality regulation as well as on how health care regulators generate, use, and facilitate others' use of data. In journals such as the Journal of Law, Medicine and Ethics, the Journal of Health Politics, Policy & Law, JAMA, and Health Affairs, she has published articles related to employers' use of financial incentives to promote health. After serving as a reporter for the committee that drafted the Uniform Telehealth Act, she now focuses her research on telehealth and related issues, including physician licensure.
