Nurse practitioners are learning procedures that they weren't taught in Nursing School.

These workshops provide new and updated information for the nurse practitioner in primary care practice. Selected topics review the critical issues and clinical challenges associated with delivering optimal patient care.

<p><b>Available Dates for Suturing: Advanced Skills and Techniques</b></p> <ul> <li><b>Saturday, March 18, 2023, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM&nbsp;</b></li> </ul> <p>Tuition includes&nbsp;Includes&nbsp;Suture Tutor, a hands-on kit containing the essentials for practicing suturing, knot tying, instrument handling and skin incision.&nbsp;Students may take this kit home for further practice.</p> <p>This class will be held in person on the Boston College Chestnut Hill campus.&nbsp;All campus visitors are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated against&nbsp;COVID-19. <p><b>Tuition: $399<br /> Contact Hours: 5</b></p> <p>Advance your clinical practice with refreshed and new suturing skills through didactic and hands-on practice.  </p> <p>Participants will learn to:</p> <ul> <li>Describe the phases of wound healing</li> <li>Perform simple interrupted, running and deep layer sutures, knot tying techniques with instruments and by hand</li> <li>Identify types of sutures and other instrumentation used in suturing</li> </ul>

Participants will learn to:  </p> <ul> <li>Evaluate and differentiate between acute and chronic wounds.</li> <li>Create a plan of care with appropriate wound care products, including non-surgical debridement <span style="background-color: transparent;">techniques.</span></li> <li>Understand the normal progression of wound healing and analyze effectiveness of wound products used to achieve healing.<br /> </li> </ul>
