Program cost, funding and billing

Cost of participation varies by program. A break down of estimated student expenses is available for your consideration. BC financial aid is not available in the summer. However, there are funding opportunities for summer programs. Eligible students are encoruaged to inquire about need-based state and federal aid. We offer advising and support for students applying for need-based and prestigious awards, and a variety of BC scholarships, and grants. Please note that a deposit and withdrawal fees are in effect for summer prorgams and internships.

Cost & Billing

Boston College students will be billed for summer programs via their Agora account in early May, and payment is due prior to departure. Any questions related to billing should be directed to Student Services.

Four separate costs are billed to Boston College Agora:

Further details on costs are listed on individual program pages.

External Applicants (non-BC students)

External applicants are required to submit a $1000 non-refundable deposit with the completed confirmation forms in order to secure their place in a summer program. This payment must be sent in the form of a certified check made out to “Boston College”. Students will receive a final invoice with the above costs in early April detailing the final program costs, less the deposit. Full program payment is due by April 20.

Grants & Scholarships

Students are encouraged to research grant and scholarship opportunities as early as possible in the application process. You may schedule an appointment with the OGE scholarships advisor. If you are a Montserrat student, you are also encouraged to meet with the Montserrat Advisor early in the application process.

Affording a study abroad experience is possible

Studying abroad is not necessarily more expensive than a semester at Boston College. While some programs in large metropolitan areas may cost more than a semester in Chestnut Hill, expenditures for many other programs may be the same or less than at BC.

Montserrat

Montserrat students are encouraged to meet with the Montserrat Advisor early on in the process of selecting programs. Students receive guidance with long-term financial planning and scholarship/grant applications. The advisor will go over the estimated student budget for BC semester, year, and summer programs, and refer students to meeting with their Financial Aid Advisor.

Scholarships

Students seeking guidance in applying for prestigious merit awards for study abroad, as well as need-based scholarships and grants for the academic year or summer, are encouraged to meet with the Scholarships Advisor. To prepare for this meeting, students are asked to review scholarships information on the OIP website and arrive with specific questions.

Withdrawal Policy

By turning in the Final Confirmation and Clearance forms online, a student commits to participate in a summer program abroad and is subject to a $300 non-refundable program deposit ($500 for internship students), to be charged to the student’s Agora account (actual charge may appear on My Hub later) . The OGE will reserve a spot in the program and make any necessary payments on behalf of the student. Any withdrawal after the submission of Final Confirmation and Clearance Forms will result in a financial penalty of at least $300 ($500 for internship students), according to the fee schedule outlined below.

In order to withdraw from any summer program or internship after final confirmation forms have been completed, students must submit a withdrawal form so that it can be processed by the Office of Global Education. The official date of withdrawal is confirmed upon receipt of this form.
