Professor Shore is a sociologist with interests in the application of social science to social policy. He was director of a major applied study of welfare reform, staff director of the Commission on the Future of the College at Princeton University, and co-author of a number of policy studies of educational testing. Arnie Shore enjoys bicycling, walking, reading, playing music, and trying his hand at wire sculptures. Bicycling takes place early Sunday mornings before the famed Boston drivers hit the roadways. Walking is a daily routine between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. Reading is a series of recreational forays into science, religion, and history. Music is fiddling on the mandolin. Sculptures are explorations of the joy of movement in metal wire.
