Presenter: Robert Schreiter, C.PP.S., Vatican Council II Professor of Theology, Catholic Theological Union, Chicago

“The road to reconciliation” as a metaphor suggests that we are indeed on the move, and that there is a certain directionality to our movement.  This presentation uses this metaphor to pose two questions:  1) Just where have we come on the road to reconciliation, and 2) is the “road to reconciliation” principally about looking backward – healing the past – or looking forward – building the future? The multiple discourses of reconciliation are located within the larger landscape of the past two decades, what preceded it, and what we hope will follow.
