On Friday October 28, the new "Center for Transatlantic Italian Studies" was formally inaugurated at Boston College before an enthusiastic standing-room only audience. The new center, to be known as CETIS, represents a partnership with its founding institution, the University of Verona, Italy and Boston College, together with Wellesley College. Associate Professor of Italian Mattia Acetoso is BC's representative in the partnership, which will be holding a series of lectures and other events at all three of the academic institutions.
The October 28 inaugural event featured opening remarks by Prof. Renato Camurri of the University of Verona and a key note lecture by Prof. David Forgacs of New York University entitled "Italy USA 1922 2022," examining American response to the 1922 March on Rome and the 2022 election victory of Giorgia Meloni, new Prime Minister of Italy.
