We use Handshake to manage the on-campus interviewing program and job/internship postings. Employers may request an on-campus interviewing date through Handshake.
- Current Users: If you already have a Handshake account, simply connect with Boston College.
- New Users: Request access to Handshake first, and then request to connect to Boston College.
- If you do not see “Request an Interview” on your Handshake home page for BC, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We request a minimum of two weeks following a career fair in order to allow sufficient time to receive and review applications and preselect interview candidates.
NOTE: For employers wishing to interview candidates the day following their attendance at a Career & Internship Fair, employers must schedule those interviews directly with candidates outside of Handshake. In this instance, select “Room Only” when requesting an on-campus interview schedule.
A typical interview schedule is comprised of twelve 30 minute interview time blocks. The schedule spans from 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with two 15 minute breaks and a one-hour lunch break from 12:15-1:15 p.m. Adjustments can be made upon request.
The typical interview duration is 30 minutes. However, we can accommodate 45, 60, or 90 minutes.
It is recommended that employers post their OCI job/internship description(s) as soon as possible and no later than one month prior to the on-campus interview date.
NOTE: It is imperative to link the specific position(s) to the appropriate on-campus interview schedule(s).
Employers may request and/or require a cover letter, unofficial transcript, writing sample, or other documents such as references or an application form. Indicate these requirements on the form when posting your job description(s).
Coffee chats are offered throughout the year and are managed through the On-campus Interviewing Program, based on availability. From your homepage in Handshake, select “Request an Interview”, complete the request form and include the following:
- Include “Coffee Chat” in the Interview Schedule Name, Interview Schedule Description, and in the title of the job/internship position associated with the interview schedule
- Select your desired interview date(s), number of rooms, and preferred Coffee Chat timeline.
Information Sessions/Recruiting Events
From your Handshake homepage, select “Create an Event”, select “On-Campus” for the format and pay special attention to the “Event Name” and ‘Description’ fields so they will be attention-grabbing and informative.
In order to effectively promote your event to students, it is recommended that you submit your request at least one month prior to your ideal on-campus date. Keep in mind holidays, breaks, and other events on the BC calendar. If you are working directly with a student organization to schedule an event, consult the Recruiting office prior to finalizing the date and time to avoid scheduling conflicts with other prearranged employer events facilitated through our office.
- Classrooms: Evening events may be requested Monday-Thursday, 6:15-9:00 p.m., pending availability. BC catering is available, but not required. Outside catering is permitted.
- Function Rooms: Evening events may be requested Monday-Thursday, 5:00-9:00 p.m., pending availability. BC catering and per person minimum is required based on function room location.
- Drop-In Sessions: Held in Fulton Hall Atrium, Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., pending availability. Table rental is available.
Note: From your homepage in Handshake, follow the steps below for Drop-In Sessions:
Select “Create an Event”. Complete the request form as indicated below:
- Name: Include “Drop-In Session” in the event name
- Format: On-campus
- Type: Other—In the text box, include “Drop-In Session” and indicate the expected number of students.
Also, pay special attention to the “Event Name” and ‘Description’ fields so they will be attention-grabbing and informative.

Your boxes will be delivered to your presentation location prior to the start of the event. If you require return shipping, please bring a pre-printed airbill with you. All materials left behind will be discarded. Please note that latex materials are not permitted on campus.
Career and Internship Fairs
There is no end date for registrations. However, capacity is reached 1-2 weeks prior to the fair and we will maintain a wait list.
We are committed to offering our students a diverse mix of job and internship opportunities from a variety of industries. Therefore, selection of career fair employers is based on current job market conditions and student demands. Your registration will be reviewed by the Career Center staff before it is approved, and your registration is not confirmed until you receive a detailed confirmation email with your invoice.
Two representatives from each organization are welcome to attend. However, employers sponsoring the Fall Career Fair may bring up to 6 representatives.
All cancellation requests must be emailed to email@example.com. The deadline to request a registration cancellation or refund is ten business days prior to the event by 5:00 p.m Eastern Time. Any cancellation request received before the cancellation deadline will receive a full (100%) refund. No refunds will be issued after this date.
If you do not show up on the day of the Career Fair, and your cancellation request was not received by the deadline, you will be responsible for paying the full registration fee. If you fail to pay in full, your organization will not be permitted to register for the next fair. Registration fees will not be credited toward a future fair.
If Boston College is closed the day of the event due to inclement weather, the Career Center will attempt to reschedule the event. Organizations that have already paid will be able to apply their fees to the new date or have the option to receive a full refund.
Wi-Fi inside our function spaces can have very limited capacity. You will likely not be able to download files, videos or presentations. If you wish to display information on your laptop or tablet, we strongly suggest you download the information to your device in advance. Please have your device fully charged because we cannot allow extension cords on the floor for safety reasons. To access the visitor Wi-Fi, visit this site for more information.
If you would like to ship materials in advance of the fair, your package(s) must be properly labeled as listed below. Please plan to have your packages arrive at least three business days prior to the fair.
