Boston College School of Social Work Associate Professor of the Global Practice Tiziana C. Dearing was recognized by a local non-profit for almost 20 years of aiding persons battling addiction and homelessness.

Earlier this spring, Dearing and her husband Stephen J. Seiner were presented with the Carl F. Barron Catalyst for Change Award by CASPAR (Cambridge and Somerville Program for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Rehabilitation) at its annual fundraising event, “Strengthening Our Community.”

According to CASPAR, Dearing – former CEO for the anti-poverty fund Boston Rising and the first woman to serve as president of Catholic Charities, Boston – has provided assistance “with her development expertise, actively working to increase the impact and sustainability of the agency’s development plan.” The organization called her “an accomplished leader who has dedicated herself, throughout her career, to clearing a path for the rising class.”
