A memorial service for former Boston College Trustee John Lowell, who died Nov. 22 at the age of 92, will be held this spring in his hometown of Nahant, Mass. Mr. Lowell, who served on the board from 1972 until 1979, was among the first group of laymen to be appointed as trustees. He was a member of the board’s executive committee during the final three years of his term.

A civic-minded person throughout his career in Boston’s financial community, Mr. Lowell served on a number of educational and charitable boards in the area. In addition to Boston College, he was a trustee at the Lowell Institute, Northeastern University, Wheelock College, Perkins School for the Blind and the Museum of Science, among others.

A graduate of Harvard University, Mr. Lowell served in the US Navy during World War II.
