The Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) of New England has selected Taylor McEldowney, a rising sophomore at Boston College, as a winner of the ISACA New England annual essay competition and a $1,500 scholarship.
The 2011 essay competition topic focused on the legal and regulatory frameworks in place to address data privacy of individuals, businesses and governments. According to ISACA representatives, McEldowney’s essay provided a thorough and critical evaluation of the impact of legal and regulatory considerations regarding data privacy.
A Finance and Marketing major in BC’s Carroll School of Management, McEldowney also is pursuing a minor in Environmental Studies. During her freshman year, she was on the Boston College Club Tennis Team. She also serves as director of marketing for The Gavel, a web-based student media organization, and is a member of the Women in Business Association. This fall, she will be a member of the Undergraduate Government of Boston College’s Sustainability Team.
“I am truly honored to receive this scholarship,” she said. “It is a great opportunity to learn more about technology security in New England and will help to advance my studies and learning experience at Boston College.”
ISACA New England is a professional organization dedicated to offering education, networking, and professional development opportunities to the information technology (IT) audit community. ISACA New England’s membership has grown in recent years to over 1400 members across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont.
