Dear Members of the BC Community:

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you that a BC student died this morning at an off-campus location.

Alexander Urtula, from Cedar Grove, New Jersey, was a biology major in the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences, who had completed his course work in December. He was working as a researcher in a hospital in New York, and had planned to attend Commencement Exercises today.

Alexander was a gifted student who was involved in many activities while at BC, including the Philippine Society of Boston College.

While today is a day for celebration, we ask you to take a moment to remember Alexander, his family, and friends in your prayers during this most difficult time.

Staff from University Counseling Services and BC resident ministers are available to assist anyone in need. Please reach out to them, or any of us in Student Affairs, if we can be of help in any way.

Sincerely,

Joy Moore
Interim Vice President, Student Affairs
