Government is represented in the Political Science Alcove of Boston College's Bapst Library through a depiction in stained glass of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The five drafters of the document—Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, John Adams of Massachusetts, Thomas Jefferson of Virginia, Roger Sherman of Connecticut, and Robert R. Livingston of New York—are depicted with portrait likenesses on the East Wall of Gargan Hall by Earl Edward Sanborn, creator of the stained glass windows throughout the University's Bapst and Burns libraries.
