Mary French, director of academic services in Office of Student Services, will succeed Kathy McGuinness as university registrar on July 1, the University has announced.

Mary French

French, a respected and versatile administrator with 25 years of experience in Undergraduate Admission and Student Services at Boston College, had been working in the Office of Student Services since January, assisting in the implementation of the Eagle Apps Enrollment Module, part of the University’s new enrollment and student services system.

In making the announcement, Interim Executive Director of the Office of Student Services Adam Krueckeberg praised French as a skilled administrator who has quickly earned the respect of her colleagues within Student Services.

“Student Services is blessed that Mary French will be stepping into the role of university registrar,” said Krueckeberg.  “Mary's collaborative and unflappable style will help her to hit the ground running, and her network of strong relationships throughout the academic community at Boston College should make the transition a smooth one.  I know we're all looking forward to working with such a gifted colleague in her new role."

Krueckeberg said that McGuinness, who has held the role since 2017, will remain at BC on a part-time basis working to bring the Eagles App project to a completion.

"Kathy has been the heart of Boston College's academic operations team for many years.  Her dedication to Boston College, its mission, and its community were never more evident than when she stepped up to take on the mantle of university registrar upon Louise Lonabocker's retirement.  She has been a wonderful colleague, teacher, and friend, and her energy and enthusiasm will be greatly missed."

French said she is looking forward to this new challenge in service to Boston College.

“I am honored to have been selected to take on the role of university registrar,” said French. “I look forward to working with the Academic Services group as well as the larger Student Services team to provide the faculty, staff, alumni and students at Boston College with the highest level of service.

“The 25 years I have worked at BC have provided me wonderful opportunities for challenge and growth. I look forward to continuing to partner with colleagues across campus working toward the betterment of the University.”
