University Health Services reported a total of six positive cases to date during the 15th week of testing (December 7-13) including three undergrads, out of 2,323 tests conducted. The University’s weekly community positivity rate stands at 0.25%. The state’s weekly community positivity rate is 6.05%.
Currently, there are 36 BC undergraduates in isolation—20 in University isolation housing and 16 recovering at home. A total of 383 undergraduates have recovered and returned to normal activities.
Since testing began on August 16, University Health Services has conducted 127,208 tests of BC community members with 448 positive cases reported. Among undergrads, UHS has conducted 94,294 tests with 419 positives. The University’s cumulative positivity rate is 0.35%.
By comparison, Boston University has reported 597 positive cases, Northeastern University 486, University of Massachusetts-Amherst 493, and the University of Notre Dame 1,820.
According to the Thanksgiving Travel Survey issued to BC students, approximately half of the BC undergraduate population chose to return to their home state for Thanksgiving and complete their remaining classes and final exams remotely, while half chose to remain in state and complete the remainder of the semester on campus.
All campus residence halls will close for the semester on the last day of exams, scheduled for December 21, and will reopen at the start of the second semester on January 28. All students, faculty, and staff who plan to be on campus during the spring semester must be tested before classes resume.
