STM 03-14-19 Priesthood_STILL

March 14, 2019

Presenters:  Thomas H. Groome, Rev. Richard Lennan, and Jacqueline Regan

Three questions loom large for the future of the ordained priesthood in the Catholic Church in the wake of decades of scandal and other expressions of decline: What is the role of the ordained priesthood in the life of the Christian community? What styles of formation might produce healthy clergy? How might priesthood be exercised in greater collaboration with all of the baptized? This session explores those three questions; it draws on the work of a two-year research project by members of the School of Theology and Ministry and the Theology Department of Boston College.

Attendees were encouraged to read “To Serve the People of God: Renewing the Conversation on Priesthood and Ministry”

Thomas H. Groome, STM professor of theology and religious education;
