In this lecture, Dr. Davis explores how being the father of a son with Down syndrome has affected his work as a biblical scholar and how Scripture informs his approach to parenting. Focusing on the Book of Job, he discusses how the Bible can support efforts for and with persons with disabilities. In particular he draws out the ambivalence in Job's character as a model for disabilities advocacy. He also reflects on the relationship between his sons and what it has taught him about solidarity.
