In this lecture, Cardinal Kasper speaks on the topic of his newly translated book Mercy: The Essence of the Gospel and the Key to Christian Life (Paulist Press, 2014): “The message of God’s mercy is not an unworldly or impractical theory. Neither is it only a matter of sentimental sympathy. It has consequences for the life of every Christian, for the pastoral practice of the Church, and for the contribution that a Christian should make to shape the social order in a more humane, just, and merciful way.”
