BC's Pep Band offers students the excitement of performing at men’s and women’s basketball and hockey games!
Pep Band members travel to exciting events and get airtime on regional and national sports broadcasts. In recent years, the band has traveled to the Men's Hockey Frozen Four/National Championship, Women's Hockey Frozen Four/National Championship, Hockey East Tournament, Beanpot Tournament, Women's Basketball ACC Tournament, and Men's Basketball ACC Tournament. From October to April, the Pep Band provides the spirit that is Boston College sports.
We welcome students on piccolo, alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, mellophone, trombone, baritone, sousaphone, drum set, auxiliary percussion, guitar, electric bass, and keyboards! Come join us!

Do I have to be in Marching Band to join Pep Band?
No! Anyone is welcome to join! If you are not in the Marching Band, we will rehearse with you separately to ensure you are adequately prepared.
Which games does the Pep Band support?
The Pep Band performs at Men’s and Women’s hockey games and Men’s and Women’s basketball games.
Is being in Pep Band a huge time commitment?
No, members typically play at 2-3 games per week, and they can indicate their availability for games to schedule around classes and other commitments.
Does the Pep Band travel at all?
Yes, the Pep Band typically travels with the hockey and basketball teams for tournament and championship games!
How do I join Pep Band?
You can join by filling out this registration form.
Are there auditions for Pep Band?
No. However, if you are new to the ensemble and are unfamiliar with our song selection, we will need to meet with you separately to get you up to speed.
Can I borrow an instrument for Pep Band?
Yes. The Bands office will provide sousaphones, baritones, mellophones, and piccolos. Some saxophones, trombones, and trumpets are also available on a limited basis. The Band provides all percussion equipment and accessories.
Can I play in the Pep Band if I am not a BC student?
Yes! If you are a college student at a school that does not have a comparable athletic band program, you can participate in our Pep Band through the Partner School Program. For more information email bands@bc.edu.
Does the Pep Band offer scholarships or stipends?
No, there are no scholarships or stipends for the Pep Band at this time.
