Growing God

In Karen Kiefer's second book, Growing God, Emma, the young artist with a big dream, returns to spend her school vacation at her grandmother’s farm. The farm is a place where her grandmother, as she tells Emma, “grows God.” Emma feels inspired to plant seeds and grow God, too, and learns that with patience, love, and faith, a small seed can grow into something amazing.

Growing God is a story for children to discover, as Emma does, that they can plant "seeds" and grow God, too. Whether through small, daily acts of kindness or larger service projects, children learn that with care, their works of goodness can also "grow into something amazing."

Growing God’s “Be a Sower” movement encourages readers to plan an activity that shares God’s love for others in the community. The interactive virtual Growing God Farm highlights the Sower projects so that others might be inspired to create their own—and to share their contagious faith.

Use the prayer ribbons and seed packets to follow Emma's example and watch something small blossom into something beautiful. Let the ribbon serve as a prayer and reminder of the power of hope, patience, and love. Create your own "Be a Sower"project to share this message with your community.
