Working Groups

At the core of the pilot phase of the Program on Global Ethics and Social Trust are two working groups of nine faculty from Boston College and seven partner universities around the world (in Bangalore, Tokyo, Santiago, Bogota, Nairobi, Lisbon, and Dublin), organized around the themes of Democracy, Governance, and Education (DGE), and Climate Change and Migration (CCM).

From different disciplines and universities, the faculty are developing ways to improve how academics address these existing threats. Over the course of three meetings per semester, participants built relationships and developed projects—both individual and collaborative—that will impact their universities, academic associations, NGOs, local church communities, and the broader public. Multiple projects have produced publications and programs in 2025, and more are underway as the Program continues into 2026.
Participants engaged with one another across disciplinary and institutional boundaries, meeting three times per semester during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years and at two international Summer Colloquia to investigate the role of global ethics and social trust in their specific discourses.
The Climate Change and Migration working group is continuing work on two major projects in 2026.
