The National Institute on Aging, part of the National Institutes of Health, awarded Sociology Prof Sara Moorman (with Dr. Emily Greenfield at Rutgers) $715,854 for the period 2017-2020 to study factors in childhood and adolescence that influence later life cognitive function. In particular, they'll be looking longitudinally at childhood SES, high school quality, and family stressors in adolescence. They'll also be testing whether these social factors have a stronger influence on the cognitive function of older adults who are at genetic risk for cognitive impairment.
