Choose the Program That’s Right for You

By providing a foundation in instructional practices alongside perspectives on children, schools, and society, this program will prepare you to challenge and nurture Pre-K–2 students in diverse school settings through humanistic teaching that is developmentally appropriate and intellectually engaging.

In the Elementary Education program, you will learn to promote student development and create engaging classroom environments for grades 1–6. You will graduate prepared teach for social justice, reflect on your practice, and work with students of all backgrounds to create inclusive, inspiring classrooms.

This program leads to licensure to teach grades 8–12 in Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, English, History, Mathematics, or Physics. Through teaching methods classes, foundation courses, content-area electives, and a school-based practicum, you will become a champion for your high school students.

The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction is a 30-credit-hour, non-licensure program that will enable those with teaching experience to pursue new interests and evolve their careers. You will choose from a wide range of electives across the Lynch School, from bilingual education and instructional design to global perspectives in education.

The Lynch School offers licensure-track special education master’s programs in two areas—moderate needs and extensive needs—as well as an accelerated dual program in both. Grounded in practicum experience, these programs prepare you to teach learners with disabilities in various settings, including fully inclusive classrooms. Any special education master’s can also be completed as a dual degree with the M.Ed. in Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary Education.

Donovan Urban Teaching Scholars

Want to join a small M.Ed. cohort committed to making a difference in urban schools?

In the Donovan Urban Teaching Scholars Program, you can earn any of these master’s degrees in a one-year, intensive format that emphasizes social justice, community building, and critical inquiry. Members of our cohort complete a year-long practicum in one of our partner schools in Boston and receive a minimum of 50% tuition remission.
