Lunch with a Leader

This spring’s Lunch with a Leader series featured Nancy Erba, former vice president of Seagate Technology, Sean Donohue ’83, CEO of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and Robert J. Morrissey, Esq. ’60, senior partner, Morrissey, Hawkins & Lynch and the benefactor of the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences. Ms. Erba talked about the value of networking and the benefits of having mentors and advocates within the work environment. She advised students to research and learn about the culture of an organization beforehand to gauge whether or not it would be a good fit for them, and once there secure an advocate who will speak for and defend them when they were not in the room. Mr. Donohue talked about the diversity and inclusion initiatives that he has been implementing within his organization. He stressed the importance of creating and working with a diverse group that will bring different perspectives to the table particularly when key decisions need to be made. He advised students that in their careers they need to take risks. He even suggested that they should try living in a different country to learn about a new culture and gain new perspectives, which include learning about how those cultures perceive the United States.
