Jenks Class of 2019

Did you know that one in eight families in Newton, Massachusetts, lives on less than $25,000 a year? Did you know some homeless shelters are overwhelmed with castoff T-shirts and shorts at the height of winter? Or that Boston College’s own Alumni Stadium has limited seating for students with disabilities? These are a few of the problems that the Jenks Class of 2019 tackled as part of their service projects. >>

Jenks Class of 2020 participated in Rebuilding Together Boston's national rebuilding day. Class of 2019 presented their final projects and Claire Greydanus '21 received the Joe Bonito Servant Leadership Award at this year's Jenks graduation. Watch the Jenks alumni video. >>

Student Grants

The Winston Center awarded travel grants to students who journeyed to countries such as the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Mauritius, and India; and internship grants to students who had unpaid summer internships at organizations that focus on areas like healthcare, economic and environmental policy, community and governmental engagement, and immigration and refugee services and other issues related to human rights. Five students participated in the GenHERation Discovery Days summer fellowship in Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco. >>

Winston Research Director, Mary Ann Glynn completed five distinguished years on the Academy of Management’s Executive Committee Board of Governors. Several faculty members and PhD students received various awards and recognition for their work, while others had articles published in recent months. >>

UPCOMING EVENTS

Speakers this fall will address issues from economic and healthcare disparities in urban communities to ethical business practices to social injustice in America. The Jane Jacobs lecture will feature public health advocate Abdul El-Sayed; the Clough Colloquium will feature a conversation with Susan Rice, former US national security advisor and US ambassador to the United Nations; the Forum on Ethics will feature Theranos whistleblower Tyler Shultz; and a collaboration with the Lowell Humanities Series and PULSE will feature Bryan Stevenson, author of Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption, and founder of the Equal Justice Initiative.
