The Boston College LGBTQ+ Alumni Council aims to build a strong community of alumni who identify as, and/or support those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or queer. This Council is fostering a sense of community, promoting a close relationship between the alumni and the University, and advancing LGBTQ+ students.

Mission and Goals

  • Mission
    • The mission of the Boston College LGBTQ+ Alumni Council is to build an inclusive community of alumni who identify as, and/or support those who identify as LGBTQ+. We do this by:
      • Creating opportunities for personal, professional, and spiritual growth and celebration that elevate historically and systematically excluded voices;
      • Acknowledging the history of the LGBTQ+ community at BC and engaging with and serving as a resource for the University, students, and alumni on issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community 
  • Goals
    • Engagement: Connect LGBTQ+ alumni through meaningful programs and advance the role of LGBTQ+ alumni as leaders in the BC community
    • Professional and Personal Development: Cultivate a network of LGBTQ+ alumni who aim to improve the quality of life for communities within and beyond the University
    • Student and Alumni Mentorship: Assist the University in providing both students and alumni with supportive mentoring and career networking opportunities
    • Collaboration: Work with the University to achieve meaningful representation of and improve support of LGBTQ+ students, alumni, faculty, and staff; address issues related to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion at the University and beyond; and celebrate the intersecting identities within the LGBTQ+ community in partnership with the AHANA+ Alumni Advisory Council and the Council for Women
