BC’s Environmental Studies Program

BC’s Environmental Studies Program uses an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the science and policy of the Earth’s environmental challenges and maintains an active blog with updated news and links to interesting articles. 

EcoPledge

EcoPledge is a student-led organization that works toward making Boston College a more sustainable campus. EcoPledge educates the BC community about environmental issues by showing films, presenting lectures, and hosting annual celebratory events like Harvstfest and Earth Day.  

Environmental Law Society (ELS)

Environmental Law Society (ELS) serves as a resource for environmental organizations and the law school community.  ELS conducts a winter seminar weekend, runs a film series, and brings speakers to campus. 

Real Food BC

Real Food BC campaigns to create a healthy food system by shifting $1 billion of university food budgets towards local/community-based, fair, ecologically sound, and human food sources- i.e. "real food" - by 2020. 

Campus Sustainability

Campus Sustainability provides information on conservation, tips for reducing your carbon footprint, and news on campus initiatives (which can serve as a model for off-campus initiatives too!). Site includes news on the inter-dorm “Electricity Saving” competition.

Earthquake Information

The Weston Observatory, a geophysical research laboratory of BC’s Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, monitors the Northeast United States for seismic activity and disseminates information pertinent to any events that are recorded.
