University Health Services reported a total of seven positive cases during the 17th and final week of fall semester testing (December 21), including one undergraduate, out of 1,136 tests conducted. The University’s weekly community positivity rate was 0.61%. The state’s weekly community positivity rate was 5.9%.
As of today (December 22), there are six BC undergraduates in isolation–one in University isolation housing and five recovering at home. A total of 430 undergraduates have recovered and returned to normal activities.
Between the first day of testing on August 16, and today, University Health Services conducted 140,535 tests of BC community members with 507 positive cases reported. Among undergrads, UHS conducted 102,760 tests with 436 positives. The University’s cumulative positivity rate for the semester was 0.36%.
By comparison, Boston University reported 747 positive cases, Northeastern University 642, University of Massachusetts-Amherst 537, and the University of Notre Dame 1,871 through December 21.
All BC campus residence halls are now closed for the fall semester, and will reopen at the start of the spring semester in late January. All students, faculty, and staff who plan to be on campus during the spring semester must be tested before classes resume.
