Graduate Leadership Program
The Graduate Leadership Program (GLP) at Boston College is an in-depth, four-session professional development workshop series designed to help Graduate students gain deeper self-awareness as leaders. This program serves the purpose of enhancing the Graduate student experience at Boston College through formation, education, leadership, and service.
Tangible and transferable leadership experience is a competency employers actively seek in new professionals. The overall goal of the Graduate Leadership Program (GLP) is to support graduate and professional students across all disciplines in their journey to understanding their leadership potential by empowering them to take a proactive approach to leadership development. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced faculty, staff, and administration from all areas of Boston College in order to understand personal leadership style, intercultural competency, strategic communication, interdisciplinary teamwork, mentorship, and overall leadership skills and strengths.
This program is free for all participants. Applicants must be current Graduate School students (Master's, Ph.D., or Law Students) in good academic standing. All graduate students are encouraged to apply.
The GLP will run from mid-February to early-April. Optional lunch will be provided by the Office of Graduate Student Life from 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. prior to the start of each session (Week #1 - Week #4). All participants are required to attend all events listed on the 2020 GLP Timeline:
● Leadership Retreat: Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
● Week 1: Friday, February 21, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
● Week 2: Friday, February 28, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
● Week 3: Friday, March 13 from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
● Week 4: Friday, March 20th from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
● Week 5: Friday, April 3rd from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (End of Program Celebration)
The 2020 GLP Application will be open from October 20, 2019 to November, 22, 2019 at 11:59pm. Applications can be found here.
Information Sessions (optional): Two 30-minute information sessions will take place at the Murray House (292 Hammond St.) in order to provide insight and answer any questions you may have regarding the program. Information Sessions will take place on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 1:00-1:30pm and Tuesday, November 12, 2019 from 2:30-3:00pm.
