Kathryn Banis (third from left) and fellow Goldman Sachs interns
This series highlights BC MBA students’ summer internships, featuring their firsthand accounts of navigating internships across various industries and roles.
This past summer, Kathryn Banis (MBA ’26) interned as a summer associate, private wealth management at Goldman Sachs in Boston.
How did you secure your internship?
I applied for the internship towards the end of September, was contacted for an initial intro call in November followed by completing a Hirevue. After that, I was invited to a virtual SuperDay which consisted of three back-to-back interviews.
How did the first year of your MBA prepare you for your internship?
I intentionally tailored my courses to focus on areas I knew would be valuable for my internship, particularly Investments and Corporate Finance. These courses were directly relevant to the work I did over the summer and helped build on the foundational knowledge I already had in these topics from my pre-MBA career.
What did you gain from your internship?
I had such an incredible experience at my internship. I met so many amazing people both as peers and mentors that inspired me to do my best each day. What I appreciated most, though, was the culture. Being surrounded by brilliant, talented, and ambitious individuals on a daily basis encouraged me to learn and be the best I could possibly be. I left the summer with an immense sense of accomplishment and know for certain I gained skills and knowledge that will continue to serve me well in the future.
