The pilot phase of the Program on Global Ethics and Social Trust is funded by a generous grant from Porticus. It is an initiative of the Provost's Office in coordination with The Office of Global Engagement and The Schiller Institute for Integrated Science and Society. We are working in partnership with Porticus and the Strategic Alliance of Catholic Research Universities (SACRU) in the pilot phase of this project.
Porticus
Porticus is a philanthropic organization that aims to create a just and sustainable future where human dignity flourishes. They recognise that not all people are able to live with dignity, and many systems that govern how the world works aren’t always fair. Their intention is to strengthen the systems that make up the social fabric of communities so that people in vulnerable positions have the opportunity toflourish.
The grant funding the Program on Global Ethics & Social Trust is part of an initative on Vital Catholic Thought, which seeks to incorporate the universal values carried in the Catholic intellectual tradition in developing responses to environmental, societal, and cultural challenges.
The Office of Global Engagement
Boston College’s commitment to global engagement lies at the core of its educational mission. The Schiller Institute
The Schiller Institute for Integrated Science and Society brings together scholars and students from the Boston College campus community to address important issues, particularly in the areas of energy, health, and the environment. They promote interdisciplinary scholarship, initiatives, courses, and programs, including sponsoring BC delegates to UN Climate Change Conferences.
The Program on Global Ethics & Social Trust is receiving auxiliary support from The Schiller Institute.
The Center for International Higher Education
The Center for International higher Education (CIHE) produces rigorous and ethical research and thoughtful, informed analysis on enlightened policies and practices in higher education. Its flagship journal, International Higher Education (IHE) publishes open-access commentary and analysis on trends and issues of importance to higher education systems, institutions, and stakeholders around the world.
