Reporting to the Social Science Data Analysis Manager at the Research Program on Children and Adversity (RPCA), the Data Analyst will oversee all aspects of data and information management for several global research projects. The Data Analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining data management systems with additional support related to data preparation, data cleaning, and assisting with instrument development under direct supervision as needed. The Data Analyst will provide technical support on research activities to contribute to the research initiatives at the RPCA.
The Data Analyst scope of work is dependent on grant funding. The scope of work may change with RPCA project needs.
Esssential Functions:
INFORMATION AND DATA MANAGEMENT
- Provide cross-team support on information and knowledge management by maintaining the cloud-based storage system organizational structure. Support the Associate Director for Research in defining and implementing data-sharing agreements with internal and external collaborators. Develops and implements procedures for data quality checking and data management plans in coordination with study Principal Investigators Associate Director for Research, and Social Science Data Analysis Manager.
- Ensure all processes for data entry and query resolution follow best practices for the data entry and reporting of study data.
RESEARCH ADMINISTRATION AND DISSEMINATION
- Closely work with Social Science Data Analysis Manager to support RPCA PhD level trainees and study investigators in the development of codebooks, data dictionaries, and data management plans, and research protocols. Coordinates weekly Data-Team meetings across RPCA team and partners. Support Social Science Data Analysis Manager on the oversight of survey programming for electronic data capture (RedCap, Qualtrics, SurveyCTO) for research teams.
- Performs analytical and technical tasks necessary to execute each phase of an analysis including reporting of findings in peer-reviewed publications, dissemination reports, grant applications, and conferences related to the work of the RPCA, as needed and under supervision as necessary. Support grant writing and stakeholder engagement as needed. Support student research assistant work plans.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COORDINATION:
- Closely work with Administrative Manager and SSW Tech Consultant to ensure best practices of information technology across RPCA. Support Administrative Manager in managing software license acquisition, renewal, and maintenance. Coordinate with RPCA team to ensure study team maintains access to software required for data entry.
The RPCA seeks an experienced and highly motivated Data Analyst with relevant experience. Competitive candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Masters in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Statistics, Public Health, or other relevant fields required.
- 1-3+ years of experience including but not limited to research conceptualization, data analysis, and data management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and background in research methodologies required.
- Strong ability in use of advanced statistical and computational programming.
- Proficiency in utilizing computer applications including Microsoft Office, BOX, STATA, R, MAXQDA, RedCap, and other applicable quantitative and qualitative platforms.
- Knowledge of programing using a common language like R. Expert knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies including mixed-methods.

Social Work Students at RPCA Lab Boston College
The RPCA is seeking a motivated Masters student to join our team and support our Intergenerational Study of War Affected Youth (ISWAY) in Sierra Leone, a 20-year longitudinal study investigating the mental health and biological outcomes of stress for former child soldiers and their offspring. The RA will work alongside our Program Manager, Research Scientist, and Administrative Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting qualitative data analysis by cleaning transcripts and coding KII and FG interviews.
- Supporting project management and presentation development, or other dissemination focused activities.
- Assisting with data management team on quantitative data cleaning as needed.
Qualifications include:
- Currently enrolled in Masters in Social Work, Public Health, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or other related fields.
- 2+ years of previous research experience required

The RPCA is seeking a motivated PhD student to join our team and support our research projects alongisde our Data Analysis Manager. The Data Assistant will be repsonsible for supporting our data management and analysis needs.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with RPCA members regarding data-related matters and requests.
- Provide cross-team support regarding the organization and maintenance of researchrelated documentation and files (IRB documentation, research protocols, proposals, codebooks, databases, technical documentation, etc.).
- Support basic quantitative data analysis and management using Stata (recoding and renaming variables, missing data description, merging data, etc.)
- Support the development of quantitative and qualitative assessment instruments.
- Contribute to the development/adaptation of codebooks for quantitative data.
- Run basic statistical analysis in Stata (sample descriptive statistics, correlations, means comparisons).
- Attend RPCA team meetings depending on current tasks and technical meetings with postdoctoral researchers and collaborators as needed.
Qualifications include:
- Currently enrolled in PhD in Measurement, Evaluation, Stats, Social Work, Public Health, Epidemiology, Psychology, or other related fields.
- 3 years of previous research experience required
- Basic understanding of applied social/health sciences research processes (research questions, hypotheses, data collection, analysis, reporting).
- Intermediate knowledge of applied statistics and psychometrics (distributions, measures of central tendency, levels of measurement, correlations, means comparisons).
- Experience with quantitative research and coding required
- Experience in STATA, RedCap, R required
- Proficiency in utilizing typical computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Box, etc.)
- Excellent coordination, communication, and collaboration skills.
