Andreas Lindgren (MSF ’26)
Tell us more about your current role.
I am an investment management specialist at Merrill Private Wealth Management in Boston, working on the McCauley McGuirk Group, a team serving ultra-high-net-worth families.
Day to day, I focus on the investment side of the practice: researching and conducting due diligence on investment managers, analyzing portfolio construction and risk, and building models that support the team’s asset allocation decisions across client portfolios.
Why did you choose to pursue your MSF at Boston College?
After finishing my studies at the University of Gothenburg and gaining experience in business development and sales in both the U.S. and Sweden, I knew I wanted to shift my career toward finance and more quantitative work. To make that move, I needed a program that would give me a rigorous analytical foundation.
BC offered exactly that: a demanding, quantitatively focused curriculum and direct access to Boston’s asset and wealth management community. The program’s size also mattered to me. It’s small enough that faculty know you, and the cohort becomes a real network, which was important coming from abroad.
How did BC help you in your career search?
BC was a huge help in the recruiting process. The program opened doors to networking events where I met many alumni who were generous with their time and advice, and the BC name carries real weight in Boston’s financial industry.
When I was interviewing for my current role, I got all the support I could have asked for. My professors took a genuine interest in my success and helped me prepare every step of the way, and my career advisor did a tremendous job helping me sharpen my interview skills.
How has the BC MSF impacted your professional life?
The program shaped how I think about investments. Courses like Quantitative Portfolio Management, Financial Econometrics, and Fixed Income Analysis gave me a framework I use daily, whether I’m evaluating investment managers, analyzing portfolio risk, or building models for our team’s client portfolios. It also gave me the confidence to engage in substantive investment questions early in my career.
