Navigating the Future of Work: How We’re Partnering with Your Students

Welcome to a new academic year! We are thrilled to welcome students back to campus, and we are ready to support them as they begin the next chapter of their professional development. While we know that conversations about the evolving job market and the role of AI in early-career roles are on many families' minds, please know that we are fully engaged in these shifts right alongside your students. It is wonderful to see that BC students continue to find success; our 2025 first destination data confirms that 96.6% of graduates were employed, in graduate school, or involved in a fellowship or volunteer service within six months of commencement. 

Building on this foundation of success, our team works closely with students to ensure they are well-prepared to navigate their own distinct paths with confidence. We routinely engage in open conversations with our trusted employer and alumni partners to understand what today’s hiring landscape truly requires. Their clearest, most consistent advice for students? Show up, be proactive, and build genuine relationships. 

Employers also emphasize that strong critical thinking -- a key strength cultivated through BC's Core Curriculum -- is more crucial than ever as teams learn how to complement, guide, and quality-check AI in the workplace. To support this, we actively support students in using AI thoughtfully and responsibly. Ultimately, we ensure students learn to pair technological agility with the human strengths at the heart of a BC education: curious discernment, clear communication, and sound ethical judgment. 

BCareer Ready

Throughout a student’s time at BC, we help them explore their interests, prepare for opportunities, build meaningful relationships, and take their next steps with confidence. To jumpstart these opportunities, we are launching into the year with BCareer Ready Week during the first week of classes. Highlights include:

• State of Hiring & AI Panel: A kickoff discussion addressing current hiring trends, the role of AI, and how students can authentically stand out in the search.
• Industry Alumni Panels: Six targeted sessions spanning our career clusters, connecting students directly with alumni who have walked in their shoes.

Major Events Preview

In addition to BCareer Ready Week, we encourage students across all majors and class years to mark their calendars for these key opportunities to explore their paths, reflect on their skills, and engage with our community. We invite you to encourage your student to save the dates most relevant to them and to remind them to watch their email for more details. These events -- and many other opportunities throughout the year -- are an excellent opportunity for students to make connections with alumni and employers that will help them stand out from the crowd:

Fall Semester

• Business Career Fair: Friday, September 18 | 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
• Tech Series: Weeks of September 21 & 28 (Multiple events)
• Wall Street Networking Event: Friday, November 6 | 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
• Endeavor Registration Opens: Tuesday, October 13

Spring Semester

• Endeavor (3-Day Career Exploration Program): January 13–15
• Law, Policy, & Social Impact Networking Event: Wednesday, February 10
• Healthcare, Nursing, & Clinical Research Career Fair: Thursday, March 18
• Communication, Arts, & Marketing Networking Event: Thursday, April 1

These major events are only a portion of what we offer! Throughout the year, students can also participate in hands-on workshops, off-site career treks, employer information sessions, and individual career coaching.

Building Connections on Eagle Exchange & MentorMatch

We encourage all students to activate their account on Eagle Exchange, our dedicated networking platform. It offers a warm, accessible space for students to connect with BC alumni who are eager to offer guidance and share their professional experiences. Additionally, registration for MentorMatch, our structured alumni mentoring program, opens on August 31.

How You Can Support Your Student’s Career Journey

As your student navigates their journey, the most impactful ways you can support them is by creating space for open conversation and encouraging them to take advantage of the resources available, including the opportunities to connect with alumni and employers. Here are a few ways to help:

• Ask open-ended questions: Prompt them to reflect on what classes, activities, or experiences energize them.
• Normalize exploration: Reassure them that it is completely normal not to have their entire career path figured out.
• Focus on one manageable next step: Encourage them to pick one actionable goal at a time rather than feeling overwhelmed. 
• Bring up the Career Center: Remind them that career coaches are available to help them navigate their interests and next steps.

Below are a few concrete steps your student can take right now depending on their stage: 

1. Explore Interest: Suggest they explore their interests and skills by completing the Focus 2 Assessment or attending Endeavor. For our first-year parents: please reassure your student that there is no pressure to attend every event right now; instead, they should focus on exploring by making connections with professors, joining clubs, and becoming familiar with our career resources.
   
   
2. Build Connections: Encourage them to activate their Eagle Exchange profile to network with alumni and register for MentorMatch when it opens on August 31.
   
   
3. Stay Informed: Remind them to complete their Handshake profile and watch their email for upcoming programs, career fairs, and networking opportunities.
