SBFC 2025 conference

Dr. Brace checking in, back from the 47th annual Symposium on Biomaterials, Fuels & Chemicals (SBFC) hosted by the Society for Industrial Microbiology (SIMB). Postdoctoral researcher Dr. Sarvada, Lil' Baldy, and I - as well as Prof. Antonio Freitas dos Santos from BC Engineering - traveled to Milwaukee for this annual research conference.

AEESP 2025 conference

Right after the first class of graduating students from HCE walked across the stage in Alumni Stadium and received their diplomas, I was off to North Carolina for the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP) Research & Education Conference!

Malik finishes his biodiesel thesis!

On April 29, Malik Robinson presented his senior thesis work at the Environmental Studies research symposium, and turned in his final thesis "Evauation of Biodiesel Obtained Through Transesterification" the next day. Congrats Malik! Read more here.

SIMB 2024

The Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (SIMB) Annual Meeting was in Boston this year! That made it an easy choice for me and my summer undergraduate research fellows – Luke, Avery, and Mel – to attend!

SBFC 2024

The Brace Lab was well-represented at the 46th Symposium on Biomaterials, Fuels and Chemicals (SBFC) hosted by the Society for Industrial Microbiology (SIMB) in Alexandria, VA. Boston College Engineering students Isabella Doyle, Bennett Lewis, Gillian Mohr (freshmen), Will Rice, and Claire Richter (sophomores) were all able to go thanks to partial support from the Engineering department.
