Mass of the Holy Spirit

The traditional opening to the academic year will take place on September 10

University President John T. Butler, S.J., will celebrate the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit on September 10 at noon on the Plaza at O’Neill Library. Concelebrants include members of the Jesuit communities of Saint Mary Hall and Saint Peter Faber and other priests of the University.

All members of the University are invited to attend the Mass, a traditional opening of the school year at Jesuit institutions dating back to the Middle Ages.

The festive liturgy serves to welcome new members into the Boston College community, renew friendships, and invoke the presence of the Holy Spirit for the year to come.

Classes will be canceled on that day from noon to 1:15 p.m.

The Mass of the Holy Spirit is organized by the Office of Campus Ministry in the Division of Mission and Ministry.
