Marina & Shopping
“I try to recycle more of my waste and be a more conscious consumer. I find that when I’m shopping now I think more about the amount of packaging a product uses and whether I can buy in bulk.”
Packaging is something we might not think about while shopping, but it is a large part of business cycle. The way a product is packaged or shipped can create waste and take up space in landfills. It is important to use your consumer purchasing power to show companies that environmentally sustainability is a significant factor when customers decide to buy their products. Marina & Sustainability Community
“I like that my friends and roommates hold me accountable to be more sustainable, it helps me make sustainability a habit in my life. I also realize that it would be impossible for me to get my footprint down to zero, but if I can influence other people to be more sustainable while continuing my own environmentally friendly activities, then all of out collective efforts can have a huge positive impact.”
Activities are more fun with friends! It’s important to have a good support group and people to talk to about environmental issues when trying to act in a more sustainable manner. Marina & Sustainability at BC
“Now students have a stronger voice and have the insight to be loud about sustainability issues at BC. I think this is due to the fact that students are more aware of the devastating affect our lifestyles have on the earth, and that different projects implemented on many levels can make a big difference in BC’s overall footprint.”
