Our Programs
M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education
Learn to teach, challenge, and nurture Pre-K–2 students in a diverse range of school settings. The program stresses a humanistic approach to teaching that is both developmentally appropriate and intellectually engaging. By providing a strong foundation in instructional practices, along with perspectives on children, schools, and society, it prepares you to work with all your students and support their thriving. You may pursue initial licensure in Massachusetts or follow a non-licensure track.
M.Ed. in Elementary Education
Learn to promote student development and create engaging classroom environments for grades 1–6. In the Elementary Education program, you will learn to promote student development, teach for social justice, and reflect on your practice to improve instruction. You will graduate prepared to work with students of all backgrounds to create inclusive, inspiring classrooms. You may pursue initial licensure in Massachusetts or follow a non-licensure track.
M.Ed. in Secondary Education
This program offers licensure and non-licensure options to teach grades 8–12 in one of the following disciplines: Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, English, History, Mathematics, or Physics. Through teaching methods classes, foundation courses that examine broad social aspects of formal education, content-area electives, and a school-based practicum experience, you will prepare to be a champion for your high school students.
M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction
The Curriculum and Instruction program is a 30-credit-hour, non-licensure program for students with teaching experience who wish to pursue new interests and evolve their careers. You can choose from a variety of electives across the Lynch School of Education and Human Development, from bilingual education and instructional design to global perspectives in education.
M.Ed. in Special Education
The Lynch School offers a licensure-track special education master’s program in moderate support needs as well as an accelerated dual program. Grounded in practicum experience, this program prepares you to teach learners with disabilities in various settings, including fully inclusive classrooms. The special education master’s can also be completed as a dual degree with the M.Ed. in Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary Education.
Donovan Urban Teaching Scholars Program
Want to join a small M.Ed. cohort committed to making a difference in urban schools? As a Donovan Scholar, you can earn any of these master's degrees in a one-year, intensive format that emphasizes social justice, community building, and critical inquiry. Members of our cohort complete a year-long practicum in one of our partner schools in Boston and receive a minimum of 50% tuition remission.
