General Information:

The earliest that students may return to campus with an approved early arrival is Monday, August 21. In order to return to campus early, a student must be a part of a group considered essential to the opening of the University, or meet the criteria listed on their class fall opening webpage. Some examples of groups include, but are not limited to:

Athletic and Band Preseason, Emerging Leadership Program (ELP), International students, Orientation Leaders, Portico, Resident Hall Association Executive Board (RHA), Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), Undergraduate Government of Boston College (UGBC) Executive Board, Welcome Wagon.

Students with a Fall 2017 on-campus housing assignment who are currently living off-campus in the Chestnut Hill/Brighton/Allston area with an expiring lease agreement may apply to come back to campus beginning Saturday, August 19.  Students must provide a copy of their lease agreement indicating the date their lease expires. Please note that students are only able to move on-campus on the day or anytime after their lease expires.


 

Application Information:

Students: All early-arrival requests must be submitted online via the Agora Portal. Click on "My ResLife" under "My Services," then select "Web Forms," then "Individual Transition." If you are applying as an individual, select "Individual" under "Fall Early Arrival" and complete the subsequent form. If you are applying as part of a group, select your group's name under "Fall Arrivals." Your group's date of arrival will be populated for you. If you do not see your group listed, please contact your group administrator. If you live in a room that does not allow for an in-room early arrival, you will be prompted to select "Interim Housing." Please allow up to 3 business days for all processing.

If you are approved for early arrival: You will receive an email confirmation. All students granted interim housing must check-in at the Summer Welcome Center in Stayer Hall on their approved date of arrival. Students currently living on campus for the summer are required to move to their fall placements on Wednesday, August 17 or earlier if notified. Improper or late check-out or failure to check out of interim housing, excessive trash, or room damage may result in fines and University disciplinary action. Students approved for an early arrival who are involved in ANY conduct violation during their stay will be removed from housing immediately and face University disciplinary action, regardless of the reason for the early arrival.

Applicants who are not approved are required to check in on Wednesday, August 23 for first-year students or Friday, August 25 for upperclassmen and transfer students. All forms are available through the Agora Portal beginning early July.

General Information:

Students may apply for early arrival for one of the following reasons:

Involvement in student teaching, involvement in University athletic events, University-sponsored service trips, attendance at new student orientation

All applications must be approved by Residential Life staff:

  • January 3, 2017: Earliest arrival date for on-campus residents who are part of an approved early arrival group.

Please note that the Office of Residential Life will be closed from December 23, 2016 to January 2, 2017, and no one will be available to respond to your calls or emails until January 3, 2017 at 9 AM.


 

Early Arrival Information:

  • Undergraduates living on-campus with an approved early arrival may stay in their assigned rooms unless otherwise noted by Residential Life staff. Any undergraduates living on campus will not be allowed an Early Arrival or access to their hall before January 3, 2017.

 


Students:

All early-arrival requests must be submitted online via the Agora Portal. Follow the step-by-step instructions. The early arrival form will be available via the Agora Portal in early November.

  • If you are applying as an individual, select "Individual" under "Spring Early Arrivals" and complete the subsequent form.
  • If you are applying as part of a group, select your group's name under "Spring Early Arrivals." Your group's date of arrival will be populated for you. If you do not see your group listed, please contact your group administrator.

Please allow at least 5 business days for all processing.

If you are approved for an early arrival:

  • You will receive an email confirmation.
  • Students approved for an early arrival who are involved in ANY conduct violation during their stay will be removed from housing immediately and face University disciplinary action, regardless of the reason for the early arrival.

Applicants who are not approved will be notified by email and may return to the residence hall no earlier than Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.

General Information

  • All resident students without extensions must be checked out of their academic-year assignments by 5:00 p.m. on Wedensday, December 21, 2016.
  • Individual students may apply for extension housing if they have a documented need to remain on campus one additional night, Thursday, December 22, 2016 until 11:00 a.m. Applicable documented needs are:
    • Involvement in student teaching
    • Long-distance travel
    • Athletics
  • Any undergraduates living on campus will not be allowed an Extension past Wednesday, December 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
  • Please note that the Office of Residential Life will be closed from December 23, 2016 to January 2, 2017, and no one will be available to respond to your calls or emails until January 3, 2017 at 9 AM.

Students

All extension requests must be submitted online via the Agora Portal. Follow the step-by-step instructions. The form will be available through the Agora Portal in early November.

  • If you are applying as an individual, select "Individual" under "Fall Extensions" and complete the subsequent form.
  • If you are applying as part of a group, select your group's name under "Fall Extensions." Your group's date of departure will be populated for you.
  • If you do not see your group listed, please contact your group administrator.
    • Group administrators cannot be a student, it must be a professional staff member.

Please allow at least 5 business days for all processing.

If you are approved for an extension:

  • You will receive an email confirmation. The email must be printed and posted on the door of the room you are staying in by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21.
  • Students approved for an extension who are involved in ANY conduct violation during their stay will be removed from housing immediately and face University disciplinary action, regardless of the reason for the extension. 

Any student who does not have authorization for extension yet remains past 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21 will forfeit their housing assignment for the next eligible year and may receive a $200 late check-out fine.

Applicants who are not approved for extension are required to check out of their Fall placement by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21.

General Information

Students may apply for extension housing if they have a documented need to remain on campus after their designated check-out time. All applications must be approved by Residential Life staff.

Examples of students who qualify for Extension Housing:

  • Students involved in Commencement activities
  • Students involved in service trips
  • Athletes involved in post-season competition

Types of Extensions

  • In-Room Extension (1 night): Undergraduates, except for those living in Claver, Loyola, Xavier, Fenwick, Vanderslice and 90 STM applying for a one-night extension will be able to stay In-Room.
  • In-Room Extension (More than 1 night): Undergraduates who live in Fitzpatrick, Gonzaga, Walsh, 66 Comm, Voute, Gabelli, Reservoir, Greycliff, Ignacio or Rubenstein, and applying to stay more than one night may stay in their Spring placements if approved. Underclassmen who share a suite or apartment with graduating Seniors in Stayer Hall and Thomas More Apartments may also choose this option. No In-Room Extensions (one night or otherwise) will be granted for students living in Claver, Loyola, Xavier, Fenwick, Vanderslice, or 90 STM.

  • Students in Extension Housing are required to check out by the approved Date of Departure on their email confirmation.
    • Students with 1 night extensions must check out with their Resident Director before 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Transition Day 2.
    • Students with extensions past Wednesday, Transition Day 2 are required to check out at the Office of Residential Life with an RD, or at the Summer Welcome Center (beginning See Important Dates) between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
    • Students with extensions until Commencement Day must check out at The Summer Welcome Center, located in the first floor lounge of Stayer Hall, between 12:00 noon and 8:00 p.m.
  • Students in Extension Housing involved in any conduct violation during their stay will be removed from housing immediately and face University disciplinary action, regardless of the reason for the extended stay.
  • Applicants who are not approved are required to check out according to the End-of-Year Closing and check-out information.

Group Extension Administrators:

All group extension requests must be submitted online via the Agora Portal. Click on "My ResLife" under "My Services," then select "Web Forms," then "Group Transitions."

  • Groups must be sponsored by a department in order to be considered for extension housing and/or early arrivals. Not all groups will be approved.
  • Group Administrators must be Boston College Faculty or Staff. They cannot be Undergraduate or Graduate Students. If your organization does not have a faculty or staff administrator please reach out to our office.
  • Group administrators are responsible for the conduct of their group's members. Any incidents that occur during an extension and/or early arrival period will result in the involved student's immediate removal from housing and may jeopardize the ability for the group to be approved for future extensions and/or early arrivals. Please remind your group's members that adherence to University policies is critical for the success of the group and that no exceptions to this policy will be made.
  • Group administrators must create their group online via the Agora Portal. To do this, click on the "My Services" tab > "My ResLife" > "Web Forms" > "Group Transitions" > "Create Group"
  • If for some reason your group needs to arrive or depart outside the standard dates, please include in your comments the complete details of your situation. Requesting a date outside the normal range may delay the processing of your group. Group approval is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of The Office ofResidential Life.
  • Once you create your group, it must be approved by Residential Life before your students can apply as part of your group. Once your group is approved, your students should use the above instructions for applying as part of your group.
  • Group administrators must approve their list of group members before the students' applications are reviewed.
