Removing previous versions of McAfee VirusScan anti-virus software on your Windows XP or 2000 computer
To remove previous versions of McAfee VirusScan on your Windows XP or 2000 computer:
- DISCONNECT your computer from the Internet to prevent infection while your computer is unprotected.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and select Control Panel.
- Double-click Add or Remove Programs (see Figure 1).
- Scroll through the list of installed programs and click McAfee VirusScan.
- Click Remove or Change/Remove (see Figure 1).

- Restart your computer.
Once you have successfully removed previous versions of McAfee anti-virus software, you may proceed with the installation of McAfee VirusScan Enterprise edition, the required Anti-Virus software for Boston College.
Removing previous versions of McAfee VirusScan anti-virus software on your Windows Vista computer
To remove previous versions of McAfee on your Windows Vista computer:
- DISCONNECT your computer from the Internet to prevent infection while your computer is unprotected.
- Click Start, then select Control Panel.
- Double-click Programs and Features (see Figure 2).

- Scroll through the list of installed programs and click on McAfee VirusScan.
- Click Uninstall (see Figure 3).

- When asked if you are sure you want to uninstall McAfee, click Yes (see Figure 4).

- When the User Account Control window pops up, click Allow.
Windows will complete the uninstall of McAfee. - Restart your computer.
Once you have successfully removed previous versions of McAfee anti-virus software, you may proceed with the installation of McAfee VirusScan Enterprise edition, the required Anti-Virus software for Boston College.
